Start with money that already has a date

A budget template, including the free templates for bills people search for, is a list of income and the bills that leave on a schedule. Write the amount and the day. Rent, transit, phone, and tuition are the first rows. Groceries can be a single planned amount that the grocery list spends against. The bill scheduler is the calendar of due dates. This page is the monthly totals.

The numbers in the sketch are a sample so the columns make sense. They are not a recommended budget, a tax estimate, or financial advice. Use your statements.

A Notion version

A notion budget template is a database with Category, Amount, Direction (in or out), and Date. A month view sums the outs and the ins. If you will not maintain categories, use two lists only: income lines and fixed bills. Variable spending can be one row called 'everything else' until you care enough to split it. Put the due dates on the monthly planner or the bill calendar so a total is not the only reminder.

Questions

What is a free template for bills?
A table with the bill name, the amount, and the day it is due, plus your income for the same month. You can build it in Notion or a spreadsheet. The value is the list of real amounts, not the decoration.
How is this different from a bill scheduler?
The budget is the monthly math: what comes in, what must leave, what remains. The scheduler is the calendar that tells you which due date is next.
