Weekly planner template
Seven days, one database, and a task that has a real date.
Weekly planner template
Sample layout
Sample week. One item per day is enough to test the view.
What the page has to contain
A weekly planner template is a list of blocks in one week: the day, the time, and the task. Searches for weekly planner template, weekly agenda template, week agenda template, weekly plan format, and week plan template are asking for that layout. In Notion the durable version is a database with a Date property and a calendar view scoped to the week, plus a table view for editing.
A static table with Monday through Sunday as columns works on paper. It breaks in Notion when a task moves, because you are editing a cell instead of a date. Put each task in a row. Let the calendar place it.
Fields that earn their place
Name, Date, Status (not started, doing, done), and a Select for area (class, work, home). A time of day can be the same Date property if you include the time. Skip a priority score until a week is actually too full to see. The daily planner is this database filtered to today. The monthly planner is the same dates zoomed out.
- Name: a verb and an object, such as 'Draft intro'
- Date: with a time if the block is a meeting
- Status: three options, not ten
- Area: class, work, or home
How to set it up
- Create a database. Name it Tasks. Add Date and Status before you add any rows.
- Add a calendar view. Set the range to week. This is the agenda.
- Add a table view. Name it Edit. Hide it from the dashboard if the calendar is the one you open.
- Duplicate the page each Monday. Or keep one database and filter 'date is this week'. One database is less copying.
Questions
- What is a weekly agenda template?
- The same page with times on the blocks: class, meetings, and the one task you will finish in that hour. An agenda without times is a to-do list.
- How many tasks should a day hold?
- Three that can finish. A day with twelve tasks is a wish list. Move the rest to later in the week on Sunday night or Monday morning.
