Notion widgets
Most widget searches want a clock, a counter, or a filtered view. Start with a native block.
Notion widgets
Sample layout
- Clock or date
- A Date property, or the page date
- Progress
- A formula or a rollup
- Tasks today
- A linked view with a filter
- Quote or note
- A callout block
Native blocks cover these jobs without a third-party script.
What people mean by a Notion widget
Notion does not ship an app-store widget the way a phone home screen does. Searches for notion widget and notion widgets almost always mean a small embed on a page: a clock, a weather strip, a countdown, or a progress ring from a third-party site. The native substitutes are a linked database view, a formula, a callout, or an embed block you control.
An outside embed loads someone else's script inside your workspace. Use one when the visual is the point and you accept that dependency. For a count of open tasks, a filtered linked database is faster to trust, because the number comes from your rows.
A smaller page loads faster
A dashboard packed with embeds is the usual reason a Notion page feels slow. Put one embed on a page, or none. The dashboard pattern on this site uses views of databases you already have, which keeps the data in Notion.
Questions
- Does Notion have official widgets?
- Notion's blocks are the official small units: callout, embed, database view, synced block. Third-party 'widget' sites wrap those embeds. They are optional.
- Can I show today's tasks without a widget?
- Yes. Add a linked view of your task database and filter the date to today. That view updates when the rows change.
