Assignment tracker
Sample layout
| Assignment | Course | Due | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lab report 2 | Biology | Oct 3 | Doing |
| Problem set 4 | Statistics | Oct 6 | Not started |
Sample rows. Status is the only field you should edit every day.
The columns
An assignment tracker template needs four columns: assignment name, course, due date, and status. Searches that mention Google Sheets (assignment tracker google sheets, google sheet assignment tracker) want the same columns in a spreadsheet. Use a sheet if that is where the class already works. Use Notion if you want the due date on a calendar next to the rest of the week.
Add a point value only if you calculate a grade from it. Add a link to the brief. Skip color codes that repeat the status. The student planner holds the course. This page holds the work. Study sessions point at a row here.
Statuses that stay honest
Not started, doing, submitted, graded. 'Waiting' is useful when the blocker is another person. If a row sits in 'doing' for two weeks, the status is wrong or the task is too big. Split it.
Questions
- Can I build an assignment tracker in Google Sheets?
- Yes. Columns: assignment, course, due date, status. Sort by due date. Notion adds a calendar view of the same fields if you want deadlines next to other plans.
- Should I track readings here?
- Track a reading when it is assigned and checkable. Do not paste every textbook chapter. Those belong in class notes or a study session.
